Why Does PTSD affect my dating relationships?

I get very nervous and fearful when dating (also push people away), have had childhood abuse issues
Answer:
It could be that you don't want to give people the chance to hurt you. If you push them away they can't hurt you. You may want to seek out a psychiatrist to help you sort out your feelings and find a way to work through them. It will take a lot of time. There is no quick fix to this but with help you form healthier relationships.
wow...
i have been and am where you are at... i have ptsd too... please im me if you wanna talk ...

Why does paxil wake me up so much?

When I started to take paxil I started feeling more awake for some reason? So much that now I have to take some sleep aid in order for me to fall asleep? Why does it do this?
Answer:
Some anti depressants have a stimulating effect, which can lead to insomnia, others have a sedating effect.

If you've been on Paxil a while and still can't sleep, speak to your prescribing doctor and discuss reducing the dosage, if you're on a high dosage.

Alternatively, ask if you can take the medicine very early in the morning.

Some people do have to take sleeping pills while they're on anti depressants, and you may have to go down this route for a while. Make sure that whichever sleeping pill you opt for is safe to take with the Paxil, though.

Best of luck.
Mild Constipation
sometimes antidepressants will jack you up and give you some energy, some times they will make you very tired, it just depends on you. however if you just started the medication and it is doing that to you, you could have been misdiagnosed. bipolar disorder is often at first diagnosed as depression and then as people take the meds it can put them in a mania. that is something to consider. i hope this helps. if you really don't like it then talk to your doc and see what he has to say and maybe he can put you on something else that you like better.

Why does it seem that sociopaths tend to use their gifts for wrong?..?

They have an amazing ability to read people %26 therefore sense what people need - they are natural leaders %26 have the ability to do great things %26 make positive things happen because people listen to them. Do we only HEAR about the stories of sociopaths that have done terrible things, or do they really usually tend to use their gift for wrong? If so, why?
Answer:
Sociopaths, by definition, lack a conscience. Therefore, the things they do are generally about personal gain or responding to impulses. There is a superficial attachment to people, but thoughts about the greater good do not occur to them. They are unencumbered by attachments to people and therefore can use their skills at observation without considering the relational impact or larger impacts.
Becuase in the news, we only hear bad things. When was the last time you heard a lovely story on the national news??

As a society/media love to focus on the dark and depressing. . . Apparently it's more interesting than all the wonderful things that we see every day . . .

In a film called before sunset bu Richard Linklater a girl says this which I think sums it up
"Well, for example, I was working for this organization that helped villages in Mexico. And their concerns was how to get the pencils sent to the kid in these little country schools. I was not about big revolutionary ideas, it was about pencils! I see the people that do the real work and what's really said, in a way, is that... the people that are the most giving, hard working and capable of making this world better, usually don't have the ego and ambition to be a leader. They don't see the interest in superficial rewards, they don't care if their name ever appear in the press, they actually enjoy the process of helping others, they're in the moment! "

Why does it hurt so much for someone to really get to know me?

Opening up really hurts more than anything. I have never found it pleasant even when falling in love.
Answer:
It sounds to me that you are a very shy person and it's not hurt but anxiety and nervousness that stop you opening up to people
Well you've taken one little step by posting a question on here, although you are anonymous,
I think i suffer from the same thing, well i must do because i've only got one friend.and some people i talk to on here.
Maybe you should try that first,it might give you a little more confidence.
There are plenty of people who would love to get to know you and i think you should relax and just try and be a little more positive.(i'm a fine one to talk aren't i)
Any way i think you'll be fine, just take it one step at a time ok.
Usually people who have these feelings you guys should practice in your bathroom mirror. Think throughtout the day what lies ahead of you. You should practice opening up to your self first.
It hurts because your afraid of getting hurt, but getting hurt is all part of growing up. We all get hurt and heal in our life time, without it we would not grow and learn.

Some hurts, hurt more then others but they all make you stronger.

If you never take chances in life you never really learn to live life to the fullest!
well... you have not found your true love ones... dont worry, when time is right, you'll find it..

Why does it feel like I'm only happy every other day?

I know this is really weird, but no matter what I do during the day, one day I could wake up feeling happy and energized, but then the next morning I will wake up feeling depressed. I don't know if it's just because I'm thinking this way, and so my mind is making this happen. I once thought I was bipolar because a few of my family members are, but then I learned that the happiness or depression would last for months not days. I eat healthy, read my bible, and get enough sleep every day. Why could this be happening?
Answer:
The fact that you come from a family with bipolar is a sure sign that you should go to a therapist when you're having feelings like this.

Bipolar doesn't necessarily mean happy for months and sad for months, you might be a rapid-cycler, where your moods change drastically day to day or even hour by hour.

It's very likely you have bipolar disorder.
it may be developing bipolar if this is happening for a while. Talk to doctor if this condition consists
What about rapid cycling Bipolar? I read that you can cycle many times a day with this so even every other day would seem to me be rapid cycling.
Well, nowhere is it written you're to be happy every day! :)

There's even a Japanese saying, "Happiness? I don't want it." The point being that the harder you try being happy, the more likely you'll miss happy when it lands on you.

Bipolar, aka manic-depression, is not merely being happy and then sad, and back again. The manic phase is truly manic--you're moving a million miles an hour, talking like a buzzing bee, and still you think you have to go faster.

However, you can check with a mental health clinic or go to the ER for a diagnosis. I have little faith in family doctors here, because when my X mentioned she thought she might be showing bipolar (family history again), we had to explain bipolar disorder to the doctor.
Well, you said it yourself. It's only because you're thinking this way that you're feeling this way. You're programming yourself to feel this way. Be happy tomorrow!
Maybe God is trying to work a miracle in your life. Just wait for it and it'll come :D

Try to smile more. You might just fool yourself into being happy. Good luck sweetie.
hormones, talk to doctor
CRAZY CRAZY CRAZY FREAK

Why does everybody think they're bipolar? Is bipolar the wastebasket diagnosis?

Answer:
There are people out there who are truly bipolar, but I do agree with you, there does seem to be a lot of bipolar diagnoses out there recently. It's kinda the new "trendy" diagnosis in mental health, so it seems.
It does seem to be a suspiciously common diagnosis.
You are so right. Don't people know their moods change several times every day depending on what is going on around them?
I think they just want excuses to be able to do whatever they want whenever they want and not have to answer for their bad behavior.
Bipolar, Depression, Manic Depression, etc. -----different names for the same thing.
I don't "think" I'm bipolar. I trust the doctor that said I am.
Nice analogy. We've rationalized general bad behavior into a pet diagnosis by doctors just to start pumping them with behavioral drug for a lifetime.

When are we going to learn these drugs designed to inhibit negative feelings may also be altering reason, judgment, shame, guilt, and remorse.
When I was in my late teens, I saw a counselor after a bad breakup for about 30 minutes (we talked about the breakup and how sad I was). She recommended my university psychologist, so I met with her later that week. After 10 minutes of questions, the psychologist prescribed Wellbutrin and told me I had a mild case of bipolar II. I had no idea what it was at the time.

I am SO glad that those records are destroyed and will not haunt me into my future, as that was the ONLY episode of depression I've ever had and with good reason - my first real relationship had just ended!

Anyhow, I think the fault lies more in the mental health profession than in everyday Joes. Same with ADHD (a real disorder, but severely overdiagnosed)
I prefer to call them severe mood changes
