I think crying is just related to being overwhelmed by emotion
Crying is an overflow of emotion. Usually it happens when you're very sad. Sometimes though, when you're happy or very angry. Just the body's way of ridding itself from all that extra emotional energy I s'pose.
Either if it's something good or bad that happens, you can still cry. Sometimes something sooo great happens that you don't believe it so you get overwhelmed and cry.
Yup, your right on the button there, it is just a sign of emotion, whether sad or happy.

crying is the expression [not the only one] for a very strong emotion. that's why people cry when they are VERY sad or VERY happy ;o)
exception! women when we are waiting or have period! we can even cry with advertisements on TV ;o)

Its called TEARS OF HAPPINESS...cause you aint been so happy for a hell of a long time and emotions take over and that makes you cry.

Expression of emotion for sure. usually if im sad, im angry, no tears, unless someone has died. I cry more with emotions such as weddings, births and other proud moments, especially for my own children!
It's funny because you can be laughing your head off at one moment and then burst into tears the next. It happens to kids quite a lot, I guess, because they are young and fresh, discovering lots of different emotions that are totally new to them and don't yet know how to control and handle them.
