Why do we mix up between mind and heart, when mind is actually our brain?

When there is some feelings or emotions or state of mind, we tend to think that these feelings come from our heart, but actually these are all matters of brain. Why it happens?
Answer:
That is a great observation! In fact, that was the line of reasoning that led early philosophers such as Aristotle to suggest that the heart is our center of control. In addition, an injury to the heart is almost always fatal, yet many survive with brain injuries.

It does seem odd that we can feel our heart but not our brain. But, there actually are no pain-sensitive nerves in our brain, and so we cannot feel its activity! (Headaches are usually due to pains in the scalp or face.)

One of our brain's standard responses to stress -- the "fight or flight" response -- is to activate what is known as the sympathetic nervous system. If you look closely, when you are stressed not only do you feel a twang at the heart, but your body is undergoing many changes -- the pupils dilate, blood flow to muscles is increased, and your lung capacity is increased. As you can see, the heart rate increase is only a side effect of many changes which are controlled by your brain. In total these changes allow us to reach quickly in case of emergency.
The "Mind" is abstract, while the brain and heart are tangible, although "heart" can be used as an abstract intangible term, the "mind" is always abstract/intangable.
From my reading sometime people get mix up between mind and heart as a tool of thinking or as mind,Egypt ppl believe that the most important inner part of human body is not brain but for them our mind is situated inside heart, that is why they never examine brain. But if u really think of it,our mind is related with heart, for example while we r in the middle of decision making process we tend to relate it with what we like or dislike plus rationality, for me heart is out mind and thinking tool while brain is a place to save memories,
in Islam we believe before learning we should clean our heart becoz if out heart is dirty it'll be hard to receive knowledge.
this is my opinion, but many ppl believe brain is mind n those ppl can not deny the function of heart n how it influences mind in every aspect.
I agree that feelings and emotions are too a large extent activity in the brain. However, the body is a multi-organ system and I don't for one moment believe in ignoring other organs in the development of emotions.
I think there's a confusion here between strictly conventional 'scientific' understandings and other ways of perceiving. It is true that mental activity can be observed in the brain; but it is also true that when we feel something emotionally, whatever thoughts are involved, there are also chemical (hormonal) changes in the body. Also, there is a great deal of metaphoric expression in language, so we talk about the heart, meaning our feelings, and we're not trying to say that the organ which pumps blood around the body is conscious!
